Different Kinds of Waxing

Hair removal. Cosmetic procedure. Beauty and health. Bright skin

Waxing leaves us feeling soft and perfectly polished in all the right places. Which waxing method is best for you?

A very spreadable wax that works well for larger areas, such as legs or arms, is warm soft wax. Warm soft wax is used for strip waxing. The wax is slightly warmed, placed on the skin, covered with a cloth strip and then hair is removed when the cloth strip is removed. Cream-based warm soft wax is gentler than resin-based warm soft wax.

Warm hard wax is better for smaller, sensitive areas, like the lip, nose, underarms and bikini area. This waxing method hardens as it cools so the wax itself can act as its own strip, which is pulled in the direction of hair growth to avoid ingrown hairs.

Cold soft wax can come in a prepared strip or be applied directly from its container, so there is no risk of burning the skin, but it is typically not as effective as warm wax and you may find its removal process a bit more painful.

Some other types of wax include sugar wax, which isn’t really a wax at all. Sugar wax is made of a mixture of sugar, lemon and hot water and typically used for sensitive skin. There are even fruit waxes, as well as soft or hard chocolate wax, believe it or not!

If this all sounds like one, hot, sticky mess, feel free to relinquish your waxing needs to the hair removal experts at Swanky Salon. It would be our pleasure to provide you with a professional wax that leaves you feeling smooth and silky in all the right places!
