2017 NSB Events

Every year in New Smyrna Beach promises to be “event-full,” and 2017 is certainly no different!
New Smyrna Beach visitors and those lucky enough to live here have already enjoyed a wide array of
incredible events this year. The Festival of the Arts, with art displays by over 230 talented artists, live
music, a student art exhibit, a creative education tent and food court, was held in January at Riverview
Park and Canal Street. Toward the end of January, New Smyrna Beach hosted the NSB Chowder Festival,
where the area’s best chowder chefs filled both sides of Flagler Avenue to compete in their legendary
culinary cook-off.

February was time for a Mardi Gras party and parade of tremendous proportions. Delicious scents from
Mardi Gras-themed food and live Mardi Gras music filled the air, and prizes were awarded for best float,
parade marchers and vehicles. Then, soulful sounds filled the air for four melodious days during the New
Smyrna Beach Blues Festival in May; and prizes are awarded for the best sand sculpture at the Sand Art
Festival in June. Attention seafood lovers! New Smyrna Beach’s Annual Shrimp and Seafood Festival
takes place every August. Attendees get to sample great seafood from Volusia’s best restaurants and
enjoy live entertainment all day!

Ah, but never fear! There is plenty more fun to be had in the latter half of the year! September 26-
October 5 is time for the 28 th Annual New Smyrna Beach Senior Games for all kids age 50 and up! The
holidays are also filled with cheer. There is a spooktacular Halloween parade and costume contest
beginning at the corner of Orange and Canal streets on Halloween. And check out the Turkey Run
around Thanksgiving. It is America’s largest classic car show! Then there are Christmas parades by land
and sea, and a spectacular fireworks display for New Year’s Eve.
New Smyrna Beach also holds monthly events, including incredible art shows; the well-known “Wine
Walk” – a progressive wine tasting event in which participants can choose from over 100 wines within
local pubs, restaurants and galleries; and classic car shows beyond compare!
